A note from Laura

We lost our Buddy yesterday. She just couldn't eat anymore, though she wanted to. She still wanted to lay in the sun in the yard, but we could tell she was hurting.
We buried her in a sunny spot she liked, in the middle of everything, and almost underfoot, which is where she liked to be. We put in her stuffed frog and a favorite mouse, some catnip, and a lot of fish cookies. I saved her hedgehog toy, I think she'd understand. She put it in my suitcase when I was going on a difficult trip a few months ago, and I discovered it when I had arrived and was unpacking. It helped me then, maybe it will help me now.

We will build a flowerbed around her grave, and she will end up lying among plants and trees, another kind of place she liked, with a favorite catnip plant on top of her. I'll move it when it recovers, she nearly did it in. She will still be able to supervise us as we putter around in the yard, and we like having her near.

We sure do miss her.

Thanks for being such a kind community while she was blogging. I had hoped she'd be blogging longer than that.

Thanks for checking in, Radcliff, Allie, Luna and Ozzie. I thought I had it set up to email me if new comments come in, but apparently not!

I tried replying to you directly to let you know that I have finally found & published your comments but maybe that didn't work.

We're doing OK. I still mistake anything on the floor for Buddy & feel a little sad when I head up our street, one of those times when I would be excited to see her soon. Setting a plate of food next to me on the sofa feels weird. I have bouts of tears still. But most of the time it's okay. Aw, who am I kidding? It sucks. But We're OK. Thanks very much for asking!

Thanks, I can hardly believe that anybody still remembers us!

We got 2 boy kittens from the same litter, strays from the Humane Society, at the end of November. It felt too soon, but I was there with a friend (foolish!) and this was these fellas' last day.

They are delightful and very very good boys, and it turns out that having two is easier, because they look out for each other and get lots more exercise than a lone cat. Which means they actually sleep at night!

I haven't really been motivated to create a blog for the boys, but maybe sometime...

I still miss Buddy but the boys are good consolation at those times.

Buddy's flower bed is coming along nicely.

I sometimes still think I feel her jumping onto the bed when it turns out nobody's there. You know how you know who it is without having to look?

The kitties and beans on the Cat Blogosphere have a long memory, and they really do care about each other.

And we know about the 'phantom kittie' -- The Food Source is sure he still feels Coco brush against his ankles sometimes.

Let us know if you ever decide to start a blog for the new kitties, OK?
